One of the better resistance books

I found this book but it did not have any reviews. I was able to borrow it from the kindle library. Now that I have read it I would definitely buy it.

I have a job where I need to be physically fit. My profession is plagued by back, shoulder and knee injuries. I myself have recurring back spasms. I have an army background and also am experienced in and own 3/4 ton of free weights.

I wanted to get back into great shape but I also wanted to reduce the risk of injury. I wanted to avoid free weight training. I started with yoga and HIIT using only body weight exercises. I dropped from 215 to 185lbs.

When I decided I needed to #1 increase my resistance and #2 find a better way of working on pulling movements for biceps, delts and back it became clear I needed to move on to resistance bands.

I have read over a dozen resistance band books and they were either too simple or to small for the money. I thought I was not going to find any good ones.

This book is a complete package. It covers nutrition, program design and the various exercises for each body part. If you only buy one book this should be the one.

I learned some new things in the nutrition section and how it applies to me with an endomorph body type. If there is a second edition I would like to see more exercise variations added. Great book.

Exactly what it says it is ... and that's a good thing!

This is a very straight forward training guide on how to use resistance bands. (duh!) . I say this only to emphasize the fact that it does exactly what it says it does in the title. No fluff in here. I liked the clear explanations of the exercises and the different types of exercises for each body part. What was also good was how the authors provided example exercise routines to match your goal (building muscle, losing weight, gaining strength). It did have some motivation aspects to it, but since it's roots come from a military training guide, it was much less, "rah, rah" and much more instructional, which is exactly what I was looking for in a resistance band exercise guide. I've been using it for about two months and I see and feel the results.

Lots of ways to use resistance bands, but editing is a little rough

Overall the content is worth a look. Along with the diagrams of different resistance band exercises, the authors included information on diet and the value of keeping a food diary and and exercise log. I found the editing a bit rough. The tables of exercise routines have obvious errors; one routine for "Triceps" lists squats, leg extensions, and hamstring curls. It would have been helpful to number the exercises shown and then include those numbers in the descriptions of exercise routines. I found it difficult to find some of the exercises listed in the exercise routines in the section showing the different exercises. Finally, some of the exercises may not be practical, or even possible for most people. For example, they show a sit up with nothing holding the persons feet down, but with a resistance band held near the neck and under a helper's feet to provide additional resistance in the sit up. Basic physics will prevent most people from doing that one as it is shown.
